Eric Adams, Maya Wiley, and Dianne Morales Slammed for Their Failure to Call for
Scott Stringer’s Resignation Following Sexual Assault Allegations
NEW YORK, NY, April 28, 2021. – The candidate with the top ballot spot in the race for Mayor of New York City, Aaron Foldenauer, slammed competitors Eric Adams, Maya Wiley, and Dianne Morales for failing to call for Scott Stringer’s immediate resignation following Jean Kim’s sexual assault allegations against Stringer.
“The failure of Eric Adams, Maya Wiley, and Dianne Morales to call for Stringer’s immediate resignation is politics at its worst,” said Aaron Foldenauer, Candidate for Mayor of New York City.
“Adams, Wiley, and Morales are all part of the clubby world of New York City politics. Now that the allegations have hit close to home, these other candidates have abandoned survivors like Jean Kim in order to protect Scott Stringer and their fellow members of the political establishment.”
“Instead of calling for Stringer to immediately drop out of the race for Mayor, these other candidates have instead issued generic statements with boilerplate references to women coming forward,” said Foldenauer. “In this #MeToo era, such vacuous grandstanding is insufficient and unacceptable.”
Foldenauer’s broadsides come following statements (linked here) from Eric Adams, Maya Wiley, and Dianne Morales that fail to call on Stringer to immediately resign and/or drop out of the race.
“Dianne Morales’ statement on Jean Kim’s allegations was particularly sad,” said Foldenauer. “Instead of calling for Stringer’s resignation, Dianne Morales instead stated that she’s ‘not focused on Scott Stringer.’ What a cop out!”
“Maya Wiley is the biggest hypocrite of all. Maya Wiley called on Trump to be impeached and on Governor Cuomo to resign,” Foldenauer said. “But now that Scott Stringer, a fellow New York City politician has been accused, Maya Wiley has done an about-face and has abandoned survivors of sexual assault everywhere.”
Foldenauer stated that one reason for the rise in sexual assault allegations against establishment politicians is the arrogance that comes with unchecked power.
“When politicians like Scott Stringer are in power for decades, they think they can get away with anything,” said Foldenauer. “We’ve seen this with other establishment politicians such as Governor Cuomo, Anthony Weiner, Eric Schneiderman, and Vito Lopez as well.”
“The voters must get rid of these dinosaurs who think they rule the earth,” said Foldenauer. “Then, newly elected leaders will know that they will be held to account by the people of New York City.”
